Jay Briscoe a wrestler with Ring of Honour has died in a car crash in Delaware. Some members of this forum still attend live events and may know him from his visits to the UK.A real gentleman and great ambassador for the sport

In the thread re Son of Dark Owl one of the posters refers to his 1956 fight of the century versus Count Bartelli being broadcast on hospital radio. Was this something that happened regularly?A radio broadcast would require a good commentator to make it interesting

Just viewed a TV documentary about the severe winter commencing Boxing Day 1962.Many football matches were cancelled with probable results determined by a team of experts. Does anyone know if many Pro Wrestling events were cancelled? Of course the experts would not have to determine probable results/Just the actual results whether the events took place or not!

Following on from the previous post I have read various articles about Dave Smith Larsen and his career post Professional Wrestling. Possibly the wealthiest wrestler of the Golden Era?

Whilst viewing a match between Jack Rowlands and Steve Taylor on You Tube I noticed a post from an old friend of his with the words RIP. Do any members of this forum know if this is correct? If so he should be removed from the Greatest Living 1960s list

The issue of the fluidity of wrestler's weight is often mentioned on this forum. Of course with Professional Boxing the weigh in is an important part of every fight. Did wrestlers ever get weighed even before a title match?

Recently viewing a tournament match from Bremen in 1979 I was reminded of the use of a gong instead of a bell to indicate the start of a round. Were gongs ever used in the UK?

Professional Wrestling returned to Tamworth Assembly Rooms last evening for the first time for several years. The venue was packed and certainly bought back memories of years gone by

The latest tag match from French TV to be uploaded on You Tube between Gilbert Leduc/Jean Corne and Der Henker/Daniel Scmid has a suprise at the sixteen minute mark. Suddenly out of the blue Pat Roach jumps into the ring and challenges Der Henker to a fight. This is particularly surprising because he has not appeared in any of the matches uploaded so far and although he was a stalwart of the Austria/Germany tournaments Roach is not so well known for appearing in France. We are told by the TV commentator that he is a Judo expert

There are now several matches on You Tube from French TV with the wrestlers in a ring surrounded by a swimming pool.A rather unusual contraption is used to get to and from the ring. Was this ever tried in the UK?

According to a post on You Tube another member of the A-Z Vassillios Mantopolous has died. Most of us do not remember him from his appearances here but he has some excellent matches from French TV on You Tube

Perhaps Marc Mercier should get an A-Z entry. He appeared on TV at the end of the ITV era and subsequently in the early days of satellite on Eurosport with Orig Williams sometimes providing commentary. Although not as outstanding as his late father Guy his ITV match versus Marty Jones is still very good

Guy Mercier one of the leading French Professional Wrestlers of the 1960s/1970s has died in France. He has several excellent matches on You Tube but one of his last is a Eurosport tag match versus Ian Gilmour and Dave Finlay in one of his first TV matches. He was father of Marc Mercier who has a very good World of Sport match versus Marty Jones in 1988 also on You Tube

In the 33 years ITV regularly broadcast Professional Wrestling was any venue outside England ever used. Considering the considerable number of prominent number of Top Class wrestlers from Scotand,Wales and Northern Ireland were venues ever used in the rest of the UK?

Just being watching a 1977 bout between Johnny Kwango and Bobby Barnes.Towards the end Kwango apparently headbutts Barnes without using his hands to shield it.Walton comments "he really delivered that headbutt".Was this an admission that most of the time he did not really deliver them?
