So pleased to see the photo of Pete Lindberg on front page of the Newsletter. Stockport born Pete was a mainstay of north western wrestling UK in 60s and 70s. A good technical wrestler, Pete was very strong too. Along with Ian Wilson and myself Jack Atherton promoted us as the Diables Rouges (Red Devils) tag team around his venues and on to Wryton and Joint Promotions and then to the independent circuits. A solid technical wrestler with a dash of the unexpected! Eddie Rose (Manchester).

Good to see Les Diables Rouges in at no.11. The team did make appearances for Wryton, Jack Atherton-Billy Riley and others associated with Joint Promotions but did about 80% of their work with Brian Dixon, Orig Williams, Jack Cassidy, Spartan and a host of the independent promoters. Jack Atherton started them off with Eddie Rose and Peter LIndberg and then they acquired Ian Wilson and rotated the team around depending on availability and injury. They had a dozen encounters with the Royals who they rated the best and Black Diamonds (for which team Eddie Rose tagged with Abe Ginsburg in he final year of his career) and all the other top rated teams over a period of some 15 years and never had to unmask. It was hot under the outfits and masks, some times very hot!!

Out of the ring Chic was a very friendly engaging character quite different to his ring personality which was very aggressive. A good wrestler, strong and quick with his moves. Eddie Rose(Manchester).

Sam was one of the best both as a wrestler and a man. He helped me a lot in my early days as a wrestler with kindness and good humour. I even wrestled him once: he held me up for four rounds then took two falls in quick succession for victory - and thanked me afterwards for a good bout! Thanks Sam! Eddie Rose.

I remember Les with mixed feelings. I always enjoyed watching his ring skills (and antics). I never wrestled him but I did referee him on one occasion and during the bout he disagreed with a decision and took a swipe at me. I did not move quickly enough and he caught me across the side of my head with some force and down I went. He apologised afterwards and bought me a pint! Fair enough! A great personality and ring performer. Eddie Rose.

I trained with Alec at Panther's Gym in Manchester and wrestled him on public shows quite a few times, He was a very skilful wrestler and also had a background in martial arts. Alex was a very friendly man and good company outside the ring - he became a good friend. So sad when he died at a relatively young age and I remember him with a mixture of sadness and pleasure. He was a good professional. RIP. Eddie Rose.😥

Best wishes for a great occasion. Unfortunately I cannot attend diue to health reasons again. I have enjoyed several reunions in Ayr and rate them as excellent.
