I was wondering if anyone could help me with dates of recordings of Reslo matches for S4C? John Lister has some taping dates listed on his ITV wrestling website but there are big gaps, especially in the early years. The gaps seem to be for the following tapings: Anglesey 1982 Porthmadoc 1982 Rhyl 1982 Aberystwyth 1983 Merthyr 1983 There are then some unknown venues in 1983, 1984 and 1985. The Reslo matches are similar in nature to the All Star ITV matches of 1987/1988. That is, they are more "lively" than the joint Promotions matches of the early and mid 1980s but still with plenty of skillful action on display from people like Kung Fu, Rocco, Finlay, Saint, St Clair and lesser known (on TV) wrestlers like Carl McGrath, Johnnie Palance and Monty Swan. Any information on those taping dates/venues would be much appreciated. Thank you

Hello, I was wondering where I could find the galleries of bills for Liverpool Stadium - including the adverts from the Liverpool Echo, which I think Ron previously uploaded onto the site? I have tried to find them by navigating the site but without success. Thank you

On Sunday last, 3rd September, Kendo Nagasaki appeared at the Head Bar in Stretford, near Manchester. Kendo was interviewed (masked) by host Mark Adams, followed the the opportunity for photos with the star himself. After a brief break, Kendo/Peter re appeared without his mask and answered questions from those in attendance. As at previous recent public appearances, Kendo/Peter was a friendly, witty and fascinating person to spend a few hours with. he repeated much of what we know already from his book and other interviews. However, there were a few things which I hadn't heard before, including the gruesome account of how he really lost part of his finger - a very different story to that told by Max Crabtree. If you have the opportunity to attend a similar event with Kendo, I would definitely reccomend going. It was particularly fascinating to hear his memories of wrestling in the 1960s and 1970s, both with the different promoters within Joint Promotions and around the world in Spain, Canada and Japan.

I attended the 20th Anniversary show of Grand Pro Wrestling (GPW - formerly Garage Pro Wrestling) on Sunday afternoon (8th July). The show featured some big names from the north west wrestling scene including Joey Hayes, Damon Leigh, Martin Kirby and Sam Gradwell (who trained at one stage with Marty Jones and wrestled for WWE NXT UK). This was their first show back after the pandemic - formerly they ran about every 8 weeks on Friday evenings. The show was at the Rose Club, Hindley, the building formerly known as the Monaco Ballroom. This hall goes back to at least the mid 60's as a regular wrestling venue. Billy Riley and Jack Atherton promoted there in the 1960's, often using local stars who were graduates from Riley's gym, just down the road in Wigan. The earliest show there that I have details of is from 3rd march 1965, when Peter Maivia wrestled Billy Joyce. Kendo Nagasaki first appeared at Hindley on 19th May 1965. As we know fromhis book, his earliest matches were for Jack Atherton and for Wryton Promotions. This must be one of the longest standing wrestling venues still in regular use and the place does have a special atmosphere. Does anyone else have memories of wrestling shows at the former Monaco Ballroom?

Kendo/Peter held a question and Answer session yesterday (5th February 2023) in the Fab Cafe, Portland Street, central Manchester. He posed for individual photos wearing his mask and then appeared unmasked and talked for around two hours, answering questions and telling stories of his days as a wrestler, and what led up to him entering the wrestling business. Although a small stage with a microphone was set up, Peter couldn't be persuaded to use these, and instead preferred to walk around amongst the 40 - 50 fans as he talked. This meant that some people mainly saw the back of his head but most of us got to see him close up. He was clearly enjoying being amongst people and several times referred to the audience as his family. I would say that there were no startling revelations, or anything that we haven't read of in his book but it was fascinating to hear Kendo telling the stories in person. He talked at some length about Billy Riley's gymnasium in Wigan and his experiences there. Afterwards Kendo was available to sign autographs but I needed to leave to catch the train home. A very worthwhile event and at a reasonable price compared to similar events with wrestlers coming over from the USA.

A query: are Ray's results (as referred to frequently in threads here on Heritage) available online somewhere or are they only held by a small group of trusted people? I have some results which Ray used to send me by post at one stage but I know he did years and years of research after that. I wonder whether the fruits of that research are available more widely? They would appear to be a valuable resource which would be of great help to many people researching wrestling both now and in the future.

On my weekly visit to Northenden (strictly legitimate under covid rules) I frequently pass 377b Palatine Road, the former HQ of Wryton Promotions - at least for part of 1974 and all of 1975. By 1976 the Kirkgate Chambers, Leeds address is used - reflecting the fact that the Crabtrees were running everything by then. Wryton had a long series of addresses in South Manchester, beginning at New Court Hotel, 126 High Street Rusholme, moving over the road to 153a High Street, Rusholme - the road name later changed to Hathersage Road. By 1964 the promotion was operating from 62 (Old) Lansdowne Road, (West) Didsbury - just round the corner from Arthur Wright's home at 28 Palatine Road, Withington. I am assuming that the move from Didsbury to the slightly less prosperous suburb of Northenden is a reflection of the declining fortunes of Wryton Promotions? Arthur Wright had by that time taken his profits and retired to Anglesey. Anyone else with memories of the different places that Wryton operated from and the reasons for the moves? Incidentally, Adrian Street, in one of the volumes of his autobiography, reveals that he owned several properties not far away.

I have read a post on Twitter saying that Old David (David Franklin) has died. If this is true, it is a sad day indeed. Old David was a much loved member of this and previous forums celebrating British wrestling. As well as being a knowledgeable historian of the 1955 - 1988 era he also continued to attend shows more recently. I believe he was a good friend of Klondyke Kate and played an important role in Wrestling Heritage. Those of us who met David at the Kent reunions remember him as a charming person, full of good humour and a friend to all. Rest in Peace David
