My point was, at a social gathering there would be guys of all ages and I was quite happy to talk football, rugby, cricket, etc. but wrestling always seemed to need an introduction into the conversation. I would wonder if maybe there was a current or ex-wrestler attending, or maybe a family member or good friend of an attendee, who had some connection with the game. I met Ed Lock when buying an Australian wrestling magazine from him, at his newsagents. As I thought the magazine would in all probability, be just a part of his stock and not of particular interest to him, I thanked him and was about to walk away when he started a conversation, which led to a wrestling conversation. Twenty years later and I’m M.C. with his wrestling promotion. If you don’t ask, how are you to know? I feel that your reply was a bit of a conversation’killer’. I try hard to start up posts between Heritage members and it can be a bit like pulling teeth! Over 80 views and two replies? Obviously I ‘can’t read the room’😘

Hi Ray. Maybe a wet long weekend. There is one source with over 500 pages on the subject. The games finals at the Pershing stadium, took place after months of qualifying rounds. Several of the Americans had good pro careers ahead of them and “names” like Dory Funk snr., Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney and Al Capone have connections down the line.
