Yes very much so. As a fan of the golden days, its good to see shows sold around specific contests again. I am not sure we will see those glory days again, but there is a definite thirst for live entertainment and it will be interesting to see how it develops. I for one would love some cross promotional link up, just to bring g some continuity to matches, but we shall see.

Andy Robin did a 3 man tag on television for Joint. It was England v Scotland and I remember him pinning Barry Douglas from the off.

I saw him as heel when her subbed for Fit Finlay are Reading Played the role very well.

I read it and have to say it was enjoyable. I wasn't keen on the writing style and the other trivia relating to dates was a distraction. But I have always thought there were a lot of urban myths about the man which were borne out of hatred and it was good to see other perspectives on some of these incidents. I think what we often get are some chinese whispers. It was also interesting to get a glimpse of his home life too. I would never pretend he was the superstar he was promoted to be, just a guy who had to work, so so many need to.

I was at Croydon when Jones was injured. I remember thinking the cage looked dangerous and Marty actually ran his fingers over the spikes before hand looking concerned. His distress was clear as he went straight to Danny Collins and offered his arm for submission. The cage didnt have a door and a second had to come with a ratchet and remove one of the clamps to let him out.

I saw some fantastic battles against Marty Jones, he could mix it up anywhere and any style. It seems a long time since he announced his retirement dues to heart problems, i assumed he was older. A great loss.

He has tumbled over the ropes on more than one occassion. When tagging with Dave Finlay he went out the same way. I am sure its happened a few times in tag matches. Not a move i would try at his weight. Only needs a rope to slack or break and it would have been a serious spinal injury.

His matches late 80's and into the 90's were very predictable and the novelty value wore off. He was still a bill topper, but i think this was more in anticipation of what might occur. His matches always left me feeling a little flat.

Jonathan Ross said he was a fan when Kendo Nagasaki appeared on 'They Think its all Over'. Not sure about Jimmy Greaves but he was involved in the publicity for All Stars TV debut and ended up in the ring with Kendo.

I remember a match, possibly one on the Grand Prix belt ones where the ref decided who had shown more agression and raised their hand in event of a draw. This was much like the scoring in boxing.

Gimick matches with tables, ladders, cages etc. Just too much pandering to the american scene.

Daddy aside, he fought the likes of Greg Valentine, Kid Mchoy, Pete Ross etc.

There are matches on youtube, one in particular is Scrubber againsts Kid McHoy where her executes the highest back drop i have ever seen. He did seem to be billed against lighter opponents a lot.

He did the odd tag against Daddy. Wouldn't call it wrestling, more running into the man and falling down.

Thanks Saxon. Why wouldn't fans want to get in on the action? i am not sure Max would shell out on deadwood, maybe he got a fee when he fought, maybe not. I can see that it would be a dream for many when the sport was at its peak.

Brian Dixon for me. He bridged the gap between the tv era and modern wrestling.

I really became aware of Tony Later in his career. He still looked the part in the ITV wrestling shows when Allstar finally got on tv. I fondly remember his matches with Bridges and Quinn. I also aw him live making the occasional appearance at the Fairfield Halls against Marty Jones and Kendo Nagasaki in the late 90's. My impression was that he was more interested in promoting wrestling than promoting himself, and was happy to put over other people. Out of the ring, he seems a real gent aswell and will often chat on facebook about wrestlers and wrestling.

He did lose against Nagasaki. Not sure what would have been achieved by him losing the latter years pantomine matches and I guess the same argument could have been made for Nagasaki. Again mirroring other sport, an individual can show dominance over a long period ala Mike Tyson and trying to defeat the undefeated can be a real draw. Watching Haystacks post Daddy, it certainly would have added interest if he would have chalked up a few losses. His matches became very samey.
