Karl Pojello & Heinrich Froehner were around the same time European wrestling champions as Dan Koloff. Did they ever meet Dan?

Yes Dan was one of the top heavyweights around Europe at the time. Might have been a great match between him and Jack Sherry.

I enjoyed reading his book on his life story to date published in the early 1990s. I asked him who was in his opinion the toughest Wrestler he ever faced and he said Bert Assirati. Yes he was a feature in many bouts here in New Zealand during the 1970s. R.I.P Pat

I also wonder too whether some of the UK's best wrestlers of the 1930s would have defeated Jack Sherry. Atholl Oakeley was a shrewd Promoter so he may have been protecting his prime wrestler with Jack Sherry.

Also a match between Bert Assirati and Karl Pojello would have been a great match up.

So much for politics protecting Lou Thesz. He told me in a letter in the early 1990s that way back in 1957 he challenged Bert Assirati but Bert would not wrestle. Then you hear from other sources that Bert fronted up for the challenge at a venue Lou was wrestling at and Lou Thesz refused.

Thank You so much for all these replies. I would have thought there was only two or three Great UK Promoters with Sir Atholl top of the list. Well certainly after reading Blue Blood on the Mat, I got the Impression that Sir Atholl was the only UK Wrestling Promoter.
