Another great day in Ayr for the WRS8 and it was so good to see many friends there and also make some new ones. Thanks go to host/organiser Andrew Bryden and to Hack who presided over the award ceremony. I was honoured to present a number of awards on behalf of the WRS and am pleased to see posts today on social media from those who attended all saying what a enjoyable day it was. Well done to all involved in making this Reunion happen and working so hard all year round to ensure it remains as poplar as it has always been.

We are all looking forward to going to Ayr from the South this year and am delighted to say that at the time of writing 14 people who attended the Watford Lunch will also be joining everyone for the day. By the Watford and Ayr events working together it enhances both and will ensure that we can continue for many years to come. I know what is planned for the day and it is going to be a memorable one I am sure

Thank you for the post Hack, much appreciated and we thank you personally for attending and making such a heartfelt speech on behalf of the WRS and thereafter presenting LDN Wrestling with an award. It was also nice that fellow Heritage member Main Mask could also join us for the day. The Lunch has been hailed a great success by all of those that attended and has received some positive feedback online. It was very good to see a number of new attendees this year including the great Steve Veidor who was delighted to see everyone, many of who he had not seen in many years. Many who attended this year have indicated to either Sanjay or myself that they wish to return next year and we look forward to welcoming them to the event in 2025.

There is no certificate of authenticity from the auction so you pay your money and take your chance as they say. I agree on the price, with Auctions fees and VAT it is a lot of money to pay out and your valuation is more realistic. I was contacted in recent times from someone wanting to know if Wayne Bridges World Title belt was for sale (it is not) and they offered £300 if it was which wasnt bad for a belt with no straps on anymore and in need of restoration haha but it is staying where it is, its family history.

Kendo returns this Sunday, the 14th April. There are now just 10 tickets left until this show is sold out.

Brian was a special guest at the Wrestling Lunch in Watford in August and celebrated his birthday with many of his former coleagues. He remains well and thoroughly enjoyed his day with everyone.

Peter, looking at the wrestling events page there are at least 13 UK wrestling shows planned in the UK for Coronation day and thats just the one advertised on there. I am sure there may be more.

Paul, I think wrestling is the best it has been for many years at the moment and there are certainly more shows than ever going on now. Many promoters are putting shows on in the same towns which is great for the local fans and every week you see numerous posts on social media saying shows are selling out across the UK. Last weekend one promoter had over 1000 fans in attendance whilst another had over 500. I know a lot of older fans dont have any interest in todays wrestling and thats fine, its a different product from back in the day, but one thing is for certain many promoters are once again putting on entertaining shows and that can only be a good thing.

A few years ago television presenter Mark Rhodes, and one half of Sam and Mark, (no I have not heard of him either) did answer questions on the World Wrestling Federation on Celebrity Mastermind.

Here is a photo of Fred just before Xmas 22 when he was made Lifetime President of the Essex Wrestlers Reunion which is run by Neil Evans so you are correct there is a connection there. Fred did attend The Bridges Reunion on a number of occasions with Neil, I believe the last time was 2019.

I believe that the current Father of Wrestling is the lightweight 'Smiler' Fred Bentley who celebrated his 95th birthday last year.

Happy New Year to all Heritage members, I hope 2023 is a good year for you all. A huge thank you to Hack as well for keeping this site the number one in the World, nobody does a better job in keeping the memory of British Wrestling alive. I hope to see some of you in Ayr in September for the Wrestlers Reunion Scotland 7, it promises to be a great weekend.

Former lightweight Champion Zoltan Boscik also passed away on this day in 2020 at his home in Christchurch, New Zealand.
