I saw him plenty of times. Had potential but disappeared. I always thought he was a Southerner and was merely billed from Darlington to make him look exotic.
I saw him wrestle once. It was the opening bout of a Morrell and Beresford promotion at The King's Hall, Belle Vue, Manchester, and his opponent was Barry Douglas.
The one in the photo recognised by Les is Ray, but it might be his actual name was Ron, and that's how Les knew him. Or Les is going to come on and say, oh yes, it was Ray. 😀
No I aren’t,if you look in one of the Wrestler magazines in about 1972, he’s in there as Ray, but he’s actually Ron or as some of the lads from Darlo called him Ronnie.
Also he worked the booths as a boxer and wrestle, and was a regular at the Hoppings , on Newcastle’s Town Moor, for Ron Taylor. So he had a link with Newcastle Ron.

The Wrestler magazine, August 1971.
One of those rare instances when the Wrestler inadvertently includes a bit of useful factual information, his date of birth.

And here billed as Ron Parkes

So maybe Ray not Ron and also Parks and Parkes. I find him again but this time South.
No he is from our time. Usually billed as Ray Parkes from Darlington.
Heavyweight I think. Can't find one born in Darlington Les , but Newcastle 1944 might fit.
This bill has him Darlington.
Maybe he is hiding with Ray Steele
Is this him Les?
