About
On a very sad note, it’s with an heavy heart that I’m saddened to announce the passing of a very good friend Mr Jimmy Boy Devlin. He died in the early hours of 22nd of this month, he was a larger than life character, always joking with a happy disposition at any time of the day. He wrestled all over the country and even in Finland where one of his opponents was the Finish lightweight champion.
He made one TV appearance in the early 60s against Milton Clarke,
But over the years some of his opponents were top TV lightweight/middleweight wrestlers, Johnny Saint, Eric Sands and Lindy Coulder etc.R.I.P. Jimmy. You’re going to be sadly missed.
Also this month I was saddened by the passing of Bernard Hughes who was a regular contributor to the Wrestling Heritage site. As a young man he served his national service with the RAF at RAF Greatham near Hartlepool, in the early 50s.
He frequently visited St Luke’s Ammature Matmen, wrestling club.(SLAM for short). And struck up a lifelong friendship with Middlesbrough’s mid heavyweight Norman Walsh. R.I.P. Bernard.
