I noticed on the Mike Marino thread there's a bill going back to 1957 from Hartlepool Engineers. On it is a gentleman called Tony Lord from Blyth taking on Chic Purvey. I have never come across Tony Lord and wondered if any of our ex grapplers particularly our North East contingent had come across him or have any knowledge of the gentleman. Thank you

Thank you all gentlemen I knew you would come up with something
No problem - he used to sign his correspondence with his given name but uses Dennis Lord on Facebook.
Lord isn't Dennis's real surname and he is no relation to Tony Lord whatsoever,I'm not at liberty to tell you Dennis's proper surname, but Dave you are correct Dennis will be 70 this year. Also I think Tony Lord would have been old enough to be Dennis's father!!! Regards. Les 💪 😊
I corresponded with Dennis quite a bit in the early days when he posted on here and I got the impression that he was about my age (70) or a bit younger therefore late fifties would make him a bit young to be a professional wrestler. He gets on Facebook so I'll try to re-connect.
Tony Lord if it is the right one boxed from 1950-1957 so he wrestled from then or possibly before
That was Dennis Lord. I seem to recall Dennis saying he tagged with Tony Lord as the Lord Brothers (which they weren't of course). Whether or not it was the same Tony Lord would be another matter.
I have the feeling that someone called Lord posted on here a few times about wrestling in Tynemouth and that area. His name was Dennis Lord, could there be a connection?
Thanks for that Ron
Pretty sure Tony Lord was a boxer from Liverpool who lived possibly in Blyth while he was wrestling.
Often boxed at Hartlepool and Middlesbrough.
