We visit this subject every few years. Since Les's comments this time have landed us in Surrey, we also have to mention Mr Big, Roy Parks from Feltham, just a few miles away. Active 1968 and 69, featured in the Mick McManus Wrestling book; then absent until a fleeting masked return as The Big Brute about 1978 with The Classical Stylist as his manager.
Les , would you happen to know his wife's name. Children ??
Would you say he was older than yourself , perhaps born 1944.
In 1978 he was working for Dale Martins , that is to say if Anglo's clue of Ray Parkes is the same man. They advertised him as Yorkshire born but now of Morden in West Surrey.
The guy I am thinking of was born in North Allerton , but probably moved to Darlington.
The guy born in North Allerton married in London in 1967 but sadly died in 2001 in West Surrey.
That is not to say that this guy was a wrestler or that he was Ray and not Roy in real life.
Sorry Ron, I don’t know if he was married or not, or if he had children. What I do know is that he had a brother that wrestled and I can’t for the life of me remember his name, 1944 would be when he was born as I think that he was about 6 years older than me (1950). Could have been born in Northallerton because its only 16 miles from Darlington. (Dicky Swales who traveled with him a lot and was on the booths with him maintained that his family were travellers).
The 1944 North Allerton Guy was Ray Wyndham Parkes and he married Geraldine Davies in 1967. I can spot 2 boys born 1973 and 1975 with three christian names each , third initial being W. ( I propose Wyndham)
This guy makes the Go South Connection and fits with Dales billing (now of Morden)
Without some help though we can't just tie it up that he was a wrestler.
Like I say though "Best Fit"
Just checking and he seems to have a brother Peter J Parkes born in the South.(1938)
They were moving about and living with mother and what looks like a Grandfather Wyndham Parkes who was a Ship Building Joiner Foreman.

In a rare moment of providing an (alleged) fact the Wrestler magazine gave a date of birth of Ray Parkes of 30th June, 1940.
Was Ray Parkes Ron Parkes?

Just what I call "best fit"
Any more thoughts
Also he worked the booths, mainly for Mel Read!!!
He was blond and curly Ray Parkes for us in the South.
But disappeared after a year or so in 1972. But I did get his autograph!
