It was a funny case altogether, Peter. He confessed to his mother telling her a pack of lies and changing his story several times. H e had many details in his 'confession' wrong.There was no scientific evidence against him, no knife and the judge ruled there was no case for him to answer. He had been in care for four months and his mother had had to move house twice. Eight years later a man walked into the local police station and confessed. He was sent to a mental institution, I believe.

Yes SW.He married Stephanie Blythe the world class mezzo who appeared at Covent Garden and the Met in New York. Apparently they met. when he was playing a non singing role at the Opera in Paris. Here's one for you Peter. Back in March 1968 the promoter of a tournament at the Community Hall, Grimsby was attacked. Half the main event failed to appear .The Red Devil was said to be an imposter and the fiinal straw was when a wrestler who had appeared earlier was forced to take part in the final contest. The promoter was chased by the crowd and had to be rescued by eight policemen and a police dog. Any names ?
