That’s quite an analogy Bill 😳 I don’t really care if people weren’t a fan or didn’t like how Nagasaki wrestled or if they want to criticise the image or anything else at all. But an endless spiteful vendetta against one of the greatest wrestlers to ever grace the ring has no place on a great forum like this. It’s not an opinion it’s a obsession that’s boring, pointless, uneducated and spiteful. Like him or hate him Kendo is a legend who made wrestling a better sport and deserves respect.

We're all very grateful. It's always enlightening to find out (yet again) how Kendo Nagasaki was in fact over rated when 99.9% of wrestling fans obviously quite wrongly thought he was an absolute legend. That bloke Rocco was pretty dull too wasn't he? And George Kidd and Johnny Saint should really have mastered a few moves before they stepped into a ring with fine athletes like Big Daddy. Do let me know when the next MD post passes inspection, it's not like he makes your otherwise great site look ridiculous or anything ...

This sounds interesting as it was the era I started going to wrestling. To be honest I was put off buying the first book as it was littered with Big Daddy posters and I assumed it would be full of tales about him which would interest me about as much as watching paint dry. If that's not the case I think I'll buy both. So... The King Ben/Nagasaki spat. Anyone have anymore info? Can't see too many roughing up Kendo!

An interesting (or maybe not) tale about The Zebra kid is the fact that the singer David Essex wrote a song about him called strangely enough Zebra kid. Based on a story about before David was famous and he was travelling home on the late night bus and ended up in conversation with another passenger who was coming home from work. David asked him what his job was he said he was a professional wrestler. David was a bit of a wrestling fan but didn’t recognise this man at all until he said he was the Zebra kid who David certainly did know. He wasn’t sure he believed him until he opened his kit bag and showed him his gear and mask. Nothing to do with his fight with Kendo but I thought it was a great little story and the inspiration for a song which can be found on YouTube but I warn you, it’s blooming awful.

Don’t remember Brian Maxine as a blue eye, I wonder why he did that? I thought he was an excellent heel.

Very interesting to read all this information about Pallo v McManus bouts. Sadly they were a bit before my time so I my enjoyment of them is only via reading about them on here. The only thing I don’t understand is as their bouts were such big occasions why didn’t they meet more? Or is that the very reason why it was always a huge occasion.

They were all nice. Giant Haystacks, Tony St Clair and Lee Bronson stood out as being the nicest. Pat Roach was happy enough to sign my autograph book although I don't remember him being chatty, but certainly not hostile in any way.

Actually there is footage of at least one Rocco/Finley bout. Possibly more.

And another passes over to that great ring in the sky… I had the pleasure of exchanging a few emails with Tony a few years back, he made a good living once he left wrestling and was a good friend to the motorbike stuntman Eddie Kidd who was left severely compromised after a crash. RIP Mate, and condolences to your family.
